Professor ’t Hooft, laureate of the Nobel Prize in Physics 1999, to visit TOKYO ELECTRON House of Creativity
The Tohoku Forum for Creativity is proud to host Professor Gerard ’t Hooft, Utrecht University, in the framework of its thematic program entitled “Fundamental Problems in Quantum Physics: Strings, Black Holes and Quantum Information”. Professor ‘t Hooft will visit the TOKYO ELECTRON House of Creativity, Tohoku University, from April 1st for a month.
Professor ’t Hooft is a truly exceptional theoretical physicist, whose research focuses on elementary particle physics and other fundamental issues in theoretical physics. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1999 for the elucidation of the quantum structure of electroweak interactions. That work was crucial to the physical relevance of the theory of these interactions (for which 3 physicists were awarded the 1979 Nobel Prize).
TFC will hold several special lectures during his stay. His visit provides a superb opportunity for young researchers and students to interact with him and get inspiration from his example.
