Promotion of Personalized Prevention Through the Use of Large–Scale Data

Lifelines is a large-scale prospective cohort study and biobank involving approximately 167,000 participants in the northern Netherlands. Since 2006, Lifelines has collected health, lifestyle, environmental, and biological data over the life course, with its unique multigenerational design—including children, parents, and grandparents—providing opportunities to study healthy ageing, disease development, and genetic and environmental determinants of health.
Sharing a common focus on multigenerational population cohorts, Lifelines and ToMMo have built a collaborative relationship over the past decade, beginning with exchanges between researchers and expanding into joint research activities. In this session, Professor Snieder will provide an overview of the current activities and research opportunities within Lifelines, followed by a discussion exploring potential opportunities for collaboration with research institutions in Japan.
