New Horizons in Food Science via Agricultural Immunology

2017AGR_large

Program Theme  [May 01, 2017 Updated]

Agricultural immunology is a new research field that fuses animal, marine and plant immunology, all of which had been considered separate topics. However, recent progress in immunological research has demonstrated that the innate immune system against pathogens that cause infection in agriculture has common features from the plants to animals. International Education and Research Center for Food and Agricultural Immunology (CFAI), which was established in Tohoku University Graduate School of Agricultural Science in April 2015, is pioneering agricultural immunology research in the world. With the Tohoku Forum for Creativity 2017, CFAI seeks to develop the theoretical foundations of agricultural immunology by including participants whose specialties include all fields of immunology. This includes not only animal, marine and plant science but also medical, dental and pharmaceutical science.
