The 14th CSR Initiative Interseminar
On 14 December 2024, a team of senior students of Takaura Seminar, Faculty of Economics, Tohoku University presented the results of their social implementation project at the 14th CSR Initiative Interseminar held at Nanzan University. Under the theme of ‘Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: CSR that makes use of diverse personalities’, the Tohoku University team reported on the results of their case studies of Social Farm Osaki and Asunoba, a support centre for people with disabilities, and made recommendations. In their presentation, the team reflected on the current state of employment support policies for the disabled from the perspective of the government, companies and individual persons with disabilities. In order to break out of the current unsustainable situation, where the government is burdened by the dependency on aid money, companies are not profitable and individuals with disabilities are not able to realize independence, a joint venture to support the employment of disabled people in general was envisaged. The joint venture would act as a bridge between the establishments employing disabled people and large companies and public institutions. By dispatching physically challenged people who are working at the business to large companies in the form of internships to improve their skills, the joint venture aims to help them become mentally and financially independent, improve the sales of the company and reduce the burden on the government.
