Workshop, Cutting Edge Technology for Understanding the Earth
Information
The purpose of this workshop is bringing scientists from different fields to discuss connectivities to shared scientific questions by focusing on the cutting edge technology. Our group brings together physicists, engineers, geologists, geomicrobiologists, and more. Some of our endeavors involve discovery through new technologies (e.g., drilling into the mantle, sensing the Earth's flux of geoneutrinos with an ocean bottom detector, characterizing the particle flux driving radiolysis and nurturing life in the subsurface, and sensing and defining the deep biosphere). Our program aims to build and grow a community of interdisciplinary scientists by identifying new approaches to critical problems in earth sciences.
