The School of Designing our Future Society
Program Theme
Tohoku Forum for Creativity has been conducting an educational program on the theme of “Creating the Future of Local Communities” rooted in the regional characteristics of Sendai City and the Tohoku region. This has been also done based on the lessons learned from the recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake.
In this program, a diverse range of people from universities, local governments, business and industry, and citizens will interact with each other to discuss various social issues that we will face and design a desirable society 20 or 30 years into the future.
The process will be divided into three phases as follows.
1. Predicting the future society 20 or 30 years into the future
2. Design future societies while examining the positive and negative aspects
3. Thinking about how social implementation of the designed future societies is possible
