Future Society Design Program

Korea–Japan Research Forum for Regional Information Society in Tohoku University

Information

In Japan, the slowest to digitize are the assemblies and public administrations, especially local governments. This is due to their difficult financial environment and the resulting lack of available manpower, as well as the digital divide that exists within them, rather than any technological problems they may be facing.

Against this backdrop, this forum will discuss the challenges and opportunities for social implementation of digital technologies in local governments. This will be done with the invited Korean researchers affiliated with the Korean Association for Regional Information Society. They will report on the current situation of local informatization in Korea, the country known for its digital advancement, and the background that has enabled it to steadily promote digitalization, as well as share their ideas with Japanese researchers.

This forum will also be held in conjunction with the 2022–2023 JSPS Bilateral Exchange Program “Municipal Administration and Policy Making Using AI/Robotics in the Era of the 4th Industrial Revolution” (Exchange Partner: Korea Research Foundation) (JSPSBP120228801).
