Recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami: Future Strategies for Disaster Risk Reduction

Program Theme

Huge natural disasters in our societies are now a global issue. To address the need for an international disaster prevention strategy, the UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction will be held in March 2015 in Sendai. In this program, we will organize: a “Multi–hazard Natural Disaster” summer school, study group discussions, and an international symposium. The aim of the program is to summarize the opinion of experts in order to develop strategies in various fields of disaster–related research prior to the UN World Conference in 2015.
